The Journey

NOTE: Our journey plans have changed – see here for updated info on that.

It’s only really possible to travel south from Monrovia to Greenville during the dry season in Liberia – one of the reasons we chose early November to activate AF-111.

Using a 4×4 vehicle, it will take approx 10 hours driving out of Monrovia to reach Greenville. The roads are mostly mud.

Thereafter, we meet with local community leaders who will travel a further 3 hours with us to a small village. Baiyah Island is offshore from here.

Traditional large wooden canoes will take us and our equipment to the island.
