NOVEMBER 17 – The 5L3BI story is here

NOVEMBER 2 – After trying for 2 days we couldn’t make a landing. Way too dangerous. Boat almost capsized next to rock. There’s lots more to say but not at this moment in time. We are as disappointed as you if not moreso. QRX for full update in a few days.

OCTOBER 28 – Richmond has arrived Greenville after 2 days driving in bad road conditions. This is very good news. The DXpedition is on course thus far.

OCTOBER 22 – For the 5L3BI IOTA Dxpedition to Baiyah Island AF-111, team member Richmond EL2BG will undertake this road journey on October 27th. This was the road conditions only a few days ago.

SEPTEMBER 18 – LoTW certificate received for 5L3BI.

SEPTEMBER 13 – The images shown depict current road conditions on the only road south to the small village opposite Baiyah island.

Since we believe roads conditions may never fully recover between now and the end of October, we have recently managed to (thankfully) reserve seats on a MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship International) flight which will take most of the team directly to Greenville Sinoe airstrip. From there we will meet Richmond EL2BG who will have made the treacherous road journey south in a 4×4 vehicle with heavy equipment we cannot take on the flights. We cross fingers he makes the trip!

Spriggs Airstrip. Departure point for Greenville.
